Prepare to Grow

https://youtu.be/uW3J1fS-jHA

This is a tip for the smallest of business owners out there and others who are still growing. Over the years, I have worked with a variety of small businesses and one thing that is repeated over and over. Business start out as just one, two, three person shops and then grow, over two, three or four years into a business where there could be 20 or 30 employees.

While amazing and wonderful for that business and that business owner, it can really be a problem. If they didn’t start out anticipating that kind of growth. No matter how small your business and when, when you’re starting out, you want to have the perspective of being bigger than you are, look forward to what it might be. Even if you see yourself in three or four years still being one or two or three people, you still want to look forward to how the business could be bigger. Think bigger than you are when it comes to formulating processes and putting procedures into place, so that you are ready for someone else to step in to allow you to do other things that you might need to be done to help the business grow.

That includes technology. Make sure from the beginning that you are conducting your business like a business, by buying business class equipment. Making sure that the networks that you have installed are business class and appropriate for a business. And in selecting the software applications that you may use, you want to make sure that they are prepared for growth.

So, even if your business starts out very small, think like you’re a lot bigger. Put those kinds of procedures, policies and equipment in place so that you will be prepared for the growth that you’re going to hopefully have. That way you won’t end up losing money in the long run by repurchasing items that were not purchased appropriately to begin with.

I hope this tip helps you and I wish you all the best in your business.
